Day 1: Day 1
You'll start your Iceland adventure by picking up your rental car at Keflavík International Airport or in Reykjavík city. Then, it's time to explore all that Reykjavík has to offer! Stroll around the city center to get a feel for the Icelandic capital, and be sure to visit some of the famous landmarks, like Hallgrímskirkja church and the Perlan viewing platform. In the evening, why not go on a hunt for the elusive Northern Lights? Accommodation for the night is in Reykjavík city.
Day 2: Day 2
Today, you'll explore more of the capital area, including the trendy neighborhoods of 101 Reykjavík and the harbor area. Be sure to visit some of the city's museums, like the Reykjavík Maritime Museum or the Icelandic Phallological Museum (yes, that's a museum all about penises!). In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in Reykjavík city.
Day 3: Day 3
After breakfast, you'll head out of the city and explore the Borgarfjörður area, including the town of Akranes and the Reykholt historic site. You'll also see the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, two of Iceland's most famous falls. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Borgarfjörður area.
Day 4: Day 4
Today, you'll explore the Snæfellsnes peninsula, often called Iceland in miniature because it has a little bit of everything that makes Iceland so special. You'll see the town of Búðir, the Arnarstapi cliffs, and the Hellnar sea arch. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.
Day 5: Day 5
On the fifth day of your exploration around Iceland,, you'll explore the Djúpalónssandur black sand beach, the Lóndrangar basalt cliffs, and the Kirkjufell mountain. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Borgarfjörður area.
Day 6: Day 6
Today, you'll explore the Golden Circle, one of Iceland's most popular tourist routes. You'll see the Thingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss waterfall, and the geothermal area of Haukadalur, where you can see the geysers Strokkur and Geysir. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Hella area.
Day 7: Day 7
Now it’s time to explore the South Coast of Iceland. You'll see the black sand beaches, the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, and the Dyrhólaey cliffs. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Vík area.
Day 8: Day 8
After breakfast, you'll explore the South Coast of Iceland continued. You'll see the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, the Skaftáreldahraun lava field, the Skaftafell geopark, and the Vatnajökull National Park. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Skaftafell area.
Day 9: Day 9
Today, you'll explore the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, the Diamond Beach, and the Vestrahorn mountain. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Höfn area.
Day 10: Day 10
On the tenth day of your travels, you'll head back towards the capital area. You'll see the Thingvellir National Park, the Gullfoss waterfall, and the geothermal area of Haukadalur. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in the Selfoss area.
Day 11: Day 11
After breakfast, you'll explore the Reykjanes peninsula. You'll see the Brimketill lava rock pool, the Gunnuhver hot springs, the Reykjanesviti lighthouse, and the Bridge between the continents. In the evening, it's time to go hunting for the Northern Lights again. Accommodation for the night is in Reykjavík or the Reykjanes area.
Day 12: Day 12
Depending on your flight schedule, you'll either spend this last day exploring Reykjavík city or Reykjanes peninsula. Then, it's time to drop off your rental car at Keflavík International Airport and say goodbye to Iceland!
