Privacy Policy

We do not ask you to register, we do not take payments, and we do not sell or share visitor data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and the site sets a small number of technical cookies needed to serve pages securely.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited and how people move through the site. It records things like the pages you view, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the type of device and browser you use. We use this in aggregate to decide what to improve; we do not use it to identify individuals.

Google processes this data as our provider. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension.

The site sets a session cookie and a CSRF token cookie. These are technical: they let the site serve pages securely and are not used to track you across other sites. Google Analytics sets its own cookies as described above.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to work.

Pages are hosted on Microsoft Azure, and images and video are delivered from Azure Blob Storage and Mux. Loading a page means your browser contacts those services, which will see your IP address as a normal part of delivering the content.

We also read public data from the Icelandic Met Office, NOAA and OpenStreetMap. Those requests are made by our servers, not your browser, so they do not see you.

We do not sell your data. We do not run an advertising network. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not take payments, so we never hold card details. There are no public user accounts, so we hold no passwords for visitors.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to ask what data relates to you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. Because we do not hold accounts, in practice this is almost always about analytics data.

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If this policy changes materially we will update the date shown above. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
