Go hunting for the magical Northern lights on this short but unforgettable adventure. You will also explore the Golden Circle & stunning South Coast of Iceland.
What you’ll experience.
If you haven’t got lots of time to spare, this 4-day, 3-night adventure might be the one for you. By night, you will go chasing the breathtaking Aurora. By day, you will drive the world-famous Golden Circle and wander along pristine black sand beaches.
You will explore the moonlike landscape of Reykjanes peninsula and marvel at the thundering waterfalls of the South Coast. In the evenings, you will hunt out dark and wild places to experience the magic of the Northern Lights.
Take as long as you need to soak up the emerald greens and crimson reds that dance in the night sky. This is a self-drive tour, so you will take everything at your own pace. You won’t be stuck on a crowded bus, and you will be in full control of the journey.
Please note that adding optional activities may change the itinerary slightly. We will provide a detailed itinerary once the booking has been confirmed.
While your chances of seeing the Northern Lights are very good at this time of year, please be aware that they are a natural phenomenon. Nature is out of our control, so we cannot guarantee a sighting!

If you are planning on driving in Iceland during winter, between September and May, we highly recommend choosing a 4×4 vehicle for your safety and to make your vacation more enjoyable. The weather in Iceland can change suddenly and you could encounter snow or sleet. Some roads are also not accessible for smaller vehicles but can be reached on 4×4´s.
To ensure your safety on our self-drive tours in Iceland, we only provide 4WD cars from 1st of October through March, due to possible snow, sleed, and other hazardous road conditions.

Day 1
Welcome to Iceland! On arriving at Keflavík airport, you will pick up your rental car and start your adventure. Depending on your arrival time, you could start your trip by exploring the Reykjanes peninsula.
This remarkable moonscape is home to Iceland’s oldest lighthouse, stunning bird-watching cliffs, and the world-famous Blue Lagoon. Your hand-picked accommodation is in the greater Selfoss area tonight. It’s totally up to you whether you get a good night’s rest or head out to look for the Northern Lights on Day 1.

Day 2
Make sure you get a good breakfast because the adventure is about to kick up a notch! You will be driving the jaw-dropping Golden Circle route today, famous around the world for its ancient history and outstanding natural beauty. You will visit Þingvellir National Park, the spouting hot spring at the Geysir Geothermal Area, and the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, to name a few. Next, you’ll hunt down a hearty meal and check in to your accommodation in the Hella area. You will spend the evening hunting out the Northern Lights.

Day 3
Thundering waterfalls, black sand beaches, and mighty rock formations are all on the cards today. After breakfast, you will visit the stunning waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Let the cool mist wake you up this morning before you drive onward to Reynisfjara black sand beach. Breathe in the ocean air as you wander along the volcanic sands and explore the mighty basalt columns and sea stacks. Legend has it that this stack was a troll who got caught out in the morning sun and turned to stone. You might like to unwind at your accommodation near Hella before heading out for another chance to see the magical Aurora.

Day 4
Sadly, your adventure has come to an end. After one last breakfast in the land of Fire and Ice, you will drive back to Keflavík airport to return your rental car and embark on your journey home. We wish you a safe flight, and we hope to welcome you back soon!
